this is a quick action i did with Bates, outside the gallery in berlin for the opening of the exchange exibition. Bates painted the PO from a sketch done by Serval and i painted the ET from a sketch of Stae2. I really liked it because it was a multiple-exchange and it seems like there is no limits of how to creat a piece. the only thing is you need to have style, then everything fits together. you know PLUS+PLUS=PLUS

Yo Serval!
I was very amped to get into this sketch, thanks a many for the outline!
I had held onto this sketch for a minute; I had the idea of working on the "Mosaic/Stained Glass" concept when I first saw the sketch, so I went for it, and I'm generally pleased with the outcome.
Looking back though, few things I would have done differently would of been: to have match the intensity of the tweeked thick to thin movement on the letters and extensions, especially on the S and the arrows, and also to have included the extension above the T (oops),
lastly to get better flick...colors/lighting suck

What's up people!! Many apologies for my recent laziness on this project.. It's been some interesting times for me but mainly for the positive. First I got caught up with work and getting my money straight, and then after deadline I just had to have some "ME" time in regards to my style while some ideas were still fresh. I have to say it's all thanks to THE EXCHANGE that certain kogs in the machine started churning again and I'm feeling very positive about that. Seeing some of my outlines painted by others really highlighted a lot of strengths and a LOT of weaknesses in my letters that I wanted to address. It's been good because it's helped me get on track with what aspects are unique in my work and allowed me to start honing them. A bit random but I recently went Vegan too LOL.. I think that's put me on some crazy positive tip..

Anyway, Here's some Jurne sketches.. I hope you like them man. I must say it could have been one of the only times I've EVER drawn J's LOL!!!! Of course my faves are the red outlined one up top (The only one I sketched freestyle with no pencil) and the white fill, blue 3D one near the bottom.Those are definitely more in the vein of things I'm doing right now with my own pieces.

Yo Serval, I've done nearly two full pages of sketches for you and ended up scrapping both hahahahaha! Your name is hard. There is a positive outcome from that though, I made some developments towards some truly KIWI things I've needed to bring to my style while working on your name.. I know it's sad but I had to rock those things in my own pieces before I gave them to someone else to paint... So anyway, I promise, soon!!!! I owe it to you for understanding French and guiding me out of trouble in Paris LOL

I liked your comment regarding finding a hybrid of styles between the drawing of a name and the final painted product. That being said, I cant wait to see how you flip it...

Got to rock this Serval sketch finally! Took me an hour to get the sketch down to where I felt comfortable with it. I tried to preserve the original sketch as best I could...

I decided to go with a classic fade in the fill to keep it simple, emphasizing Serval's dope letters and attention to detail. I painted this over the course of three nights, because the spot I chose ended up being pitch black; I had to check the piece in the mornings and then remember what needed tweaking with the next night.

The piece wouldn't have been complete with a proper hip hop character, so my man Twigs had the idea to big up MC Hammer as a tribute to the unique and memorable style he brought to the Bay! Of course, I had to rock his quote. The jury's still out on the hollow bits in the fill, and the top of R doesn't quite have that Serval-certified funk to it, but all in all, Im happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for the dope sketch Serval, painting your style really gave me an appreciation for how exact every line is in the sketch. I got one brewin' for you in the near future...

Poet painting the Serval sketch

hi everybody...finally i find the time to paint my first sketch from Serval. i had some good samples to choose from, it was not really easy, they are all good. the sketch above looked for me the biggest challenge because of the long lines,the whole movement and the lines had some difficult curves or breaks (i dont know how to describe in english), so i tryed to do it as close as possible to work Serval's sketch. it was kind of strange to follow some one others flow but i had fun to do the challenge. i also like this classical FBA touch that Serval's style has. i also add one of the charakters but i had to mention that just finishing the piece i had some problems with some kind of security guy who came up in the unoccupied building. i had to leave but i came back 20 min later and finished everything mostly with fatcap. i wish i had more time for a better background..so, sorry when the charakter is kind of rough. thanx again to Serval and www.yard5.de for the sponsoring of the cans.

FINALLY! I managed to get my first exchange outline laid down on a wall I did with my boy Guts..

It was a great sketch to work with, it reminded me of my own style, but with more of a hip hop feel to it.Almost as if I combined my style with my crew member Sueme's.  So the flow came naturally.  I also took advantage of the outline and painted it on my girl at a graffiti body art showcase last weekend. Thanks again serval, I definately learnt some new flow structure experimenting with your outline. Hope you have as much fun as I did with mine!

After messing with the letters at work when it was slow all day I came up with something a little bit more balanced. I like the E and the R in the first one better, but over all the second sketch feels more complete. I'l leave it up too you which one to paint, or paint both!
