The Exchange was started in 2005, with six participants from different areas of the United States. The group is currently made up of 35 members from 14 countries worldwide. The participants of The Exchange trade names and personal styles through sketches. This step is repeated until everyone in the group has traded outlines at least once.
The sketches are drawn, scanned, and traded via email. They are then printed out and executed by the receiving artist in their particular city.
The objective is to create an awareness of distinct lettering styles and trends. The goal is for all in the group to be able to become more versatile through attempts at graffiti styles out of their personal comfort zone. The artists in the group may learn new techniques and compositions from the exchange.
These came out really good man.
ReplyDeletevery fresh how you left off the 3ds on the first sketch!
ReplyDeleteVery fresh!
ReplyDeleteYour color selections seem so random, yet somehow you always make them work I like how the technique brings Askew's style real close to your own, dope!
ReplyDeleteHey man, I really reckon you nailed these! You have such a good eye for every little nuance and quirk, I love that.. I think though I got a lot of influence from looking at GFA stuff as I mentioned so perhaps there was stuff that wasn't too foreign for you there too!
ReplyDeleteIt's an honour for me to see these painted, as it is from everyone participating in this thing.. Good vibes!
soo good i really like the outline color on the top one FUNKY!
ReplyDeleteThanx to all of you. To paint Askews style was also like Serval and Jurne sketches a real experince. Painting another man's sketch still feel strange to me. but what i like about it is that you have to give these sketches justice with colors and its much more fun when you paint your own name.I feld the most difficult is with the fill-ins when it comes to askews style. i think his style is very personal and really technical in form of many breaks...the second one, that i painted first, i just had the approach to burn but realized quick thats not so easy to throw alot of colors in this style without messing it up, so i tryed to follow Askews designs for the impact(what he added cant be wrong). For the top one i decided then to keep it tone in tone and clear and i think it kind of better works. with the style.
ReplyDeletelove the colours you use dude......they both look top shelf!!
